Proofing the new prints - Aug 2001

A series of new images are available for sale and distribution through balletart.com. We wanted to give our public a chance to follow the process. The first two to be produced are both intagio (relief) prints. One uses a photograveure technique, and the other uses a drypoint technique (more about these techniques later in our reference section, still under development). On the right you may see a proof of the photograveure (16 x 20 inches).

This intaglio print was produced in an extremely limited edition of 25. Please contact B. H. Giza if you are interested in obtaining one.

A new, small drypoint image was also produced.

In the images below you can see the steps involved as the image was developed and enriched. Proofing took place at two of San Antonio's finest artist's press-spaces: Stone Metal Press and Hare and Hound Press.

The penultimate proof shows the chiaroscuro background building up as the drypoint scrapings provide an ever-more-complex crosshatched repository for the ink.
