New Work - February - March 2013 (and a few earlier items that I haven't mentioned yet).

Drypoints in 2012 and 2013: More portraits, nudes, & ballet subjects, and a few more of the "in Giselle" series

Pouting Fairy
"Pouting Fairy" Drypoint engraving on aluminum, (February, 2013).

The intaglio drypoint sketch of the fairy above ("Pouting Fairy") is the first of several winged nudes I started in January 2013. I have several completed or in progress at this time that range from the simple fairy pose above to others that are much more fantastic, evoking Blake or Bosch in their mood.

Paulina in Giselle
"Paulina in Giselle" (Drypoint engraving on aluminum, January 2013)

Flowers and Vines tinted
""Flowers and Vines (tinted)"" Drypoint engraving on aluminum, tinted with watercolor (2012)

Flowers and Vines (2012) is the first of a series that I began in 2012 that was intended to explore how hand-tinting of intaglio images would turn out. I was a inspired to try this after a trip to Philadelphia in March of 2012 where I came across a shop that sold old tinted engravings of birds, etc. I am not much for birds, but I liked the technique.

First Tutu
""First Tutu"" Drypoint engraving on aluminum, made March 12, 2013.

First Tutu (2013) was inspired by the kids in their costume fittings for the early March 2013 recital at the El Paso Conservatory of Dance. The salons were full of little kids running around trying out their costumes. A couple of the girls were wearing their first real tutus and this drawing combines the personality of two of them (no, there is no real pose like this...it is actually a blend, combining two charmers, Rebecca and Valeria).

Portait of Taylor
""Portrait of Taylor"" Drypoint engraving on aluminum, made March 17, 2013 - my St. Paddy's Day image.

(Stay tuned for more prints, including more of the 'In Giselle' portraits and the 'Fairy' series of nudes that I am working on in March, 2013).
